Dudley Wood Primary School and Pre-School
Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Morning. There is a currently a lorry blocking Dudley Wood Road, outside the school car park and is very difficult to pass. Please, where possible, walk to school. If you do need to drive, please DO NOT block neighbour's driveways. We have notified police.
Hi everyone,
I wanted to provide you with an update. With the additional day on Friday, it appears at the moment, we have weathered the worst of the norovirus outbreak. Whilst completing registers today, we found most children experienced symptoms on Friday or Saturday and have not been in school, which we hope has broken the cycle.
After consulting with public health officials, we have jointly decided to cancel all trips and competitions this week to prevent any further spread within the community. This includes the Maths Championship and Dance Competition. We understand this may disappoint some children, but it is a necessary precaution. We will arrange a time for the children to perform for their peers once it is safe to do so. We are hoping our children can join the Maths Championship online.
Year 2 Titanic Workshop:
As the children will be staying in their own class, public health have advised the workshop can still go ahead.
Clubs will not take place until at least Thursday this week.
Additionally, Mrs. Greenfield will be on jury service for the next two weeks. If you have any SEND queries, please reach out to Miss Foster, who will be happy to assist.
Thank you for your understanding and cooperation.
Best regards, Mr. Beacham
Good afternoon everybody,
I hope you've enjoyed the sunshine this weekend. Firstly, thank you all for your support and understanding last Friday. We never make the decision to close school lightly; however, we must prioritise the health and well-being of the school community.
To confirm, we are reopening on Monday 31st March. On Friday the school had an enhanced deep clean and will have another deep clean in the morning before children return. We will continue to liaise public health throughout the next few days, following our return. I'm sure you can appreciate that it's difficult to predict the number of children who may have symptoms and are not in school until registers are completed in the mornings. In terms of sports competitions and events next week, we are unable to confirm whether these will or won't go ahead at the moment. We will make the decision, taking the advice of public health, when we know further information tomorrow.
If your child has had any symptoms in the last 48 hours, please do not send them into school. They can only return when they have not had any episodes for 48 hours. We must work together to help protect the children, families and staff. Thank you.
Fingers crossed the additional day will have broken the infection cycle and mean we can return to normal, for all of our sanity!
Enjoy the rest of the evening,
Mr Beacham
Norovirus update
Dear Parents and Carers,
I am writing to update you on the ongoing norovirus cases within our school community.
We are in daily communication with public health officials to ensure we are following all recommended guidelines and advice. They have confirmed that we are adhering to all necessary measures to manage the situation effectively.
Public health has asked us to remind you that if your child exhibits symptoms of norovirus, they should be isolated from all contact with others at home as well as at school - simply keeping them off school won't help to stop the spread in the community. It is crucial that they remain isolated until at least 48 hours after the last bout of illness to prevent further spread.
Today, public health has advised that all trips scheduled for the remainder of this week are to be cancelled, as well as swimming. As for trips and visitors planned for next week, no decision has been made yet. Public health will continue to review the situation with us on a daily basis, and we will provide further updates accordingly.
We understand that this may cause concern, but please be assured that we are doing everything possible and following all advice to slow down and stop the spread of norovirus within our community. Your cooperation and understanding are greatly appreciated during this time.
Thank you for your continued support.
Mr Beacham
