Children’s Mental Health Week 2022 - Growing Together
This year’s theme is Growing Together.
Growing Together is about growing emotionally and finding ways to help each other grow. Challenges and setbacks can help us to grow and adapt and trying new things can help us to move beyond our comfort zone into a new realm of possibility and potential. However, emotional growth is often a gradual process that happens over time, and sometimes we might feel a bit ‘stuck’.
For Children's Mental Health Week 2022, we will be encouraging children (and adults) to consider how they have grown and how they can help others to grow. Each year group will participate in Growing Together activities in their PSHE lessons and have the opportunity to join virtual assemblies and a sing-along live event with Dudley Performing Arts.
You can get involved too! Useful resources and helpful information can be found on the Place2Be website. https://www.childrensmentalhealthweek.org.uk/parents
What is mental health?
Many people consider mental health to be an illness - but this is only part of the picture. We all have mental health and this can be considered in terms of how we feel about ourselves and the people around us, our ability to make and keep friends, relationships and our ability to learn from others and to develop both psychologically and emotionally.
Mental health includes our emotional, psychological and social wellbeing. It affects how we think, feel and act. It also helps to determine how we handle stress, relate to others and make choices. Mental health is important at every stage of life - from childhood, through adolescence and into adulthood.
At Dudley Wood Primary School, mental health and wellbeing is an important part of our ethos. Making sure all of our children, their families and our staff have support to look after their health is vital to us. If you have any questions, need some advice or just want to talk, please get in touch. We are all committed to trying to help wherever we can.
