  • Walk with us again on Friday 10th February

Mon 06 Feb 2023 Mrs Guest

Our next walk is taking place on Friday 10th February in Children’s Mental Health week. This year’s theme is “Let’s Connect”. We hope the walk will encourage people to connect in healthy, rewarding and meaningful ways. The walk will be on the field at the rear of the school.

If you would like to join us for the walk, please meet us on the field at the following times:

    Reception & Years 1 & 2: 9:10am

    Years 3 & 4: 9:40am

    Years 5 & 6: 10:10am

Please send your children with a change of shoes for the walk - wellies, boots, trainers, or sturdy shoes would be great!

If the weather is wet, we will postpone our walk - we will text you to let you know.

  • Number Day!

Fri 03 Feb 2023 Mrs Guest

We took part in the NSPCC Number day on Friday 3rd February. We celebrated maths across the school and every child was a mathematician, taking part in mathematical challenges and solving problems. Well done to you all! Across the Rivers C. of E. Academy Trust we have helped to raise awareness of the most valuable work of the NSPCC.

  • Celebrating our STARS values in school!

Wed 01 Feb 2023 Mrs Guest

We celebrate times when behaviour demonstrates our STARS values. In each class there is a display of the 5 STARS values: Sharing; Trust; Achievement; Respect; Safety. Names or photographs of our children are moved from around the edge of the display into the star when their behaviour demonstrates our values. This is celebrated with the child, and we take time to talk to the children so that we are sure that they fully understand the meaning of the value. Children’s photographs and names can move from one star to another throughout the week and the target is for every child to have their name in a star by the end of the week. This is then celebrated as a class and our younger children have a star sticker!

  • Give It All You've Got!

Tue 31 Jan 2023 Mrs Guest

We have re-launched our School House System and our new year resolution is to earn as many housepoints as we can! The children and staff are sorted into one of four houses. The houses represent the important heritage of our local community. They are miners (green), Nailmakers (yellow), Chainmakers (red) and Navigators (blue). We are enjoying learning all about our local history in our assemblies this term.

Through the houses, we praise children for demonstrating our STARS values, we create a sense of belonging and develop confidence, pride and healthy competition.

Well done to our Year 6 House Captains, who have been chosen by the children to support, inspire and encourage all members of their house throughout the school. Each house has its own cheerleading team from Year 5 and all the children have learnt the new house song!

Our new mascot, Gerry the Giraffe, can be found standing tall and proud by the housepoint board in the school wearing the colour of the winning house for the previous month.

Well done to Chainmakers who are our winning house for January!

  • 486 Miles!

Fri 09 Sep 2022 Mrs Guest

We really enjoyed our 'Walk of Thought' to launch the Million Miles challenge across The Rivers C. of E. Academy Trust. Together we walked a total of 486 miles which is the equivalent of walking The River Severn from the start to the end and back again and some more! Thank you to all the children, staff and parents who clocked up the miles!

Statement from The Rivers C. of  E. Academy Trust

We express our deepest sympathies for the passing of Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth II. Her dedication to the United Kingdom of Great Britain and Northern Ireland and to her other realms and territories is unparalleled and we thank her for her service. Our trust will observe the mourning period but continue to support our pupils, families and staff.
