Dudley Wood Primary School and Pre-School
Keep up to date with all the latest news happening in school at the moment.
Dear Parents and Carers,
Thank you for all your support over the last term. It's been a privilege to join Team Dudley Wood and to work with you and your children. I'm writing to update you on two staffing changes:
Miss Antill - Teaching Assistant in RCW- will be leaving us today. Miss Antill has been a brilliant asset to our team. I'm sure you'll agree, her dedication and nurturing personality has been a great influence on the children she has worked with. Whilst we are sad to see her go, we wish her the best of luck in her relocation.
Pat - our Housekeeper- is also retiring today. Pat has been at our school for many, many years. Pat is not only an amazing housekeeper but also an amazing person. She has touched so many lives here at this school with her kindness, humour, wisdom and passion. We are all very grateful for having her as part of our team. We wish her all the best for her retirement.
Lunches
After the Christmas break, sandwiches and jacket potatoes will return to our menu daily. This change has been made following feedback from our children and families. Due to this change, wraps will no longer be on offer, in replacement of sandwiches. Fillings will be ham, cheese or tuna mayo. See photo below with Relish's offer.
That leaves me with one thing to say. I hope you all have a relaxing break. To those celebrating Christmas, "Merry Christmas" from all staff; may 2024 bring you lots of joy and happiness. We can't wait to welcome you back on Tuesday 9th January.
Mr Beacham
Attention parents and carers.
Measles cases are on the rise locally, with confirmed cases in Birmingham. The NHS is calling on you to check your child's MMR vaccination status.
Measles can lead to serious complications, but two doses of the MMR vaccine provide lifelong protection.
Protect your children's health, contact your GP to catch up on any missed vaccinations.
Christmas Jumper Amnesty- this week only.
Please donate your children's Christmas jumpers, that no longer fit.
These will be donated to children who do not have a Christmas jumper, on Friday.
Thank you #starvaluesharing"
This year Dudley Wood will support Edward's Trust with our Christmas Jumper Day.
We invite parents to head over to the charity's just giving page and make a donation.
Follow this link Christmas Jumper Day 2023 - JustGiving then click 'Give Now' to donate
and don't forget to wear your Christmas jumper on the 8th December.
Other than a Christmas jumper, all other clothing must be school uniform.
About Edwards Trust.
Edward's Trust is a West Midlands based charity supporting bereaved children, young people and adults. The service is free and gets no government support.
Any money raised through our 2023 Christmas Jumper Campaign will go to help those who are bereaved at what can be one of the worst times of the year.
***SAFEGUARDING ALERT***
West Midlands Police have been made aware of a live Snapchat account where children in Dudley are actively encouraging other children to post graphic images and videos of themselves or their peers. Please could we ask parents and carers to pay extra attention to all social media accounts to ensure that the content viewed or shared is appropriate for their age. We are investigating this matter and will be dealing with any criminal offences identified in a positive manner.
For further support or advice, please refer to the Dudley Safe and Sound Website.
It's finally December and we are very proud to announce that Dudley Wood now has a P.T.F.A.!
Look out for some of us at the end of school, in the playground, every day next week! You will have the chance to enter our fun prize draw and Guess the Name of Santa's Elf and the Seasonal Sausage Dog! Please bring CASH ONLY- coins are best ( please note, we can't change bank notes)! Each guess costs just 50p! Why not bring £1 and have a guess of both names? Winners will be announced in school on time for Christmas. Also, be on the lookout for a very special, surprise guest popping up in school towards the end of the week. Watch this space for more details! Make sure you get your guesses in quickly. Once the name is taken, it's gone for good so avoid disappointment and catch us at the end of school each day next week!
Seasons Greetings,
