About Childrens University

We are encouraging our Y5 and Y6 pupils to try new experiences, develop new interests and acquire new skills by participating in the Children’s University Programme.

The programme rewards children for their out of school learning experiences through certificates.  Children collect stamps in their university passport for every hour of out of school learning they complete at validated learning destinations.  The more hours they collect the higher the reward they receive.

Inside the Passport to Learning the children will see that they can work through lots of CU Award levels.  Starting with their Bronze Award for 30 hours of CU Learning Activities up to a Gold Fellowship Award for 1,000 hours.

The 30 hours Bronze Award can be awarded for one or more activities but after that you should have at least 5 hours of learning something new for the Silver level (65 hours) and then 10 hours of something new for your Gold (100 hours) and all other Awards over 100 hours.

Validation of new learning destinations is completed by our local Children’s University.  Vouchers can be collected from Mrs Leigh which can be handed to out of school clubs and will provide them with the necessary contact information for the university.  Once they are validated, children can collect stamps for any learning they complete there.

Stamps can also be collected at public learning destinations across the United Kingdom such as Dudley Zoo.  A comprehensive list of validated learning destinations can be found at:

We hold a graduation ceremony for all participants each July at school.  During the ceremony children and parents have the opportunity to celebrate their achievements and showcase their talents.
