Planting Trees for the Queen

The Queen’s Green Canopy (QGC) is a unique tree planting initiative created to mark Her Majesty’s Platinum Jubilee in 2022. With a focus on planting sustainably, the QGC will encourage planting of trees to create a legacy in honour of The Queen’s leadership of the Nation, which will benefit future generations.

On Friday 4 March, 75 pupils from years 1 to 6, from Dudley Wood Primary School, joined volunteers from Friends of Saltwells Nature Reserve and the Prince’s Trust to plant trees on behalf of Dudley Council as part of the Queen’s Green Canopy tree planting initiative. The children planted a tree on behalf of every pupil in school, and they will be able to watch them grow, as they planted the trees just behind the school. We enjoyed learning about the national project – The Queen’s Green Canopy, the local site and the different species of trees being planted there.
