New arrangements for school meals

Dear Parents,

I am writing to explain the new arrangements for school meals at Dudley Wood Primary School.

We are now serving a hot dinner every day.

Children can have a school meal, either free or paid for, depending on which of the following applies:

1. Free School Meals from Monday 2nd November

If you receive support payments your child may be entitled to Free School Meals throughout their primary education. If you wish to apply for Free School Meals, please go to:

www.dudley.gov.uk/resident/your-council/council-tax-and-benefits/benefits/free-school-meals

This is the best option, if you are eligible, as it entitles children to free school meals throughout their time at primary school and it brings additional pupil premium funding to the school.

2. Universal Free School Meals for children in Early Years and Key Stage 1 from Monday 2nd November

If your child is in Reception, Year 1 or Year 2 you are automatically entitled for free school meals under the ‘Universal Infant Free School Meals’ scheme.

3. School Meals for other children in Key Stage 2 from Monday 16th November

The cost of a school meal is £2.40.

We have been working to re-introduce the availability of hot meals for all our children under a system that is Covid safe and that meets the requirements of our risk assessment.

We are pleased to inform you that we are planning to re-introduce school meals for all our children from Monday 16thNovember.

I will be writing to you again to detail the payment procedures. I feel it is important at this stage to let you know that the correct money will be required for payment as change cannot be given under the new system.

Our menu is detailed in the PARENTS section of the website under School Meals. You will be notified if the menu changes although we are not expecting this to happen in this half term.

Kindest regards,

Mrs Guest, Headteacher.
